Juanita Mramba serves as the Head of Sustainability at East African Breweries Limited (EABL), where she leads the company’s ambitious “Spirit of Progress” ESG agenda.
Her role includes integrating sustainability into all business areas across EABL’s markets in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania to steer long-term environmental and social impact.
Under her leadership, EABL has reported that over 70 per cent of its manufacturing operations are now powered by renewable energy, which it attributed to the investments in biomass plants, energy recovery systems, and electrification.
These efforts have helped in reducing greenhouse-gas emissions and also strengthening the company’s resilience to energy risks.
Water management is another area of focus under Mramba’s guidance. In the latest sustainability report, EABL disclosed that it replenished over 700 million litres of water in 2025.
Mramba also guides efforts on sustainable packaging. EABL is increasing its recycling programmes and using more sustainable grain-to-glass practices to cut down on waste.
